Trim height for carpet install

What is the gap between the floor and trim work when planning to install carpet. Is it 1/2"?

If you're talking about the baseboard, it can be directly on the unfinished floor, and a 3/8" gap between the baseboard and carpet tack strip will work fine for tucking the edge of the carpet.

You're right on target, I mean baseboard. Last time I did this I put several scraps of plywood under the base trim before nailing but I couldn't remember what size I used to get the right height for carpet install. 1/2" should do it, right?

New Replacement Windows but what about A/C?

Hello all, I have a question to ask. I just installed new windows and siding. The windows contain the argon gas in them. I used to have air conditioners in each window. In the old windows, they were wooden. We were able to screw the A/C into the wooden windows but now with the new windows, we are not able to do so. The A/C does fit..somewhat, but we would have to take out the top portion of the window.. but it still doesn't fit. If the top portion of the window is taken out, the bottom part can come down, but then it would leave an opening up on top. What can I do to install this AC now? Any suggestions? tinting/keeping sun level down??????

Hi, I have a long(about 8 foot) window facing the sun just about all day long. I was wondering what I could do to help keep the sun out. I was thinking of tinting them with a film, but I want the sun in the winter for warmth. They are double mpane gas filled windows. My present idea is to get some of that bubble type of insulation that has alumionum on both sides and stapling it above the window the length of it. This would act as an awning. First I would spray paint the aluminum to make it less reflective(or maybe I should leave the top side relective to reflect the sun? Real awniungs are too expensive. I don't care about the look, and it would be taken down in the winter. I live in the country and not ma whole lot of people can see too much of my house. Any suggestions please.
