sliding glass door pane shattered

We had to remove a horribly unsafe retaining wall and in the process, despite precautions, shattered the non-sliding door pane. How hard is this to replace, if possible? Please note, this is a mother-n-son venture.....!

If it's a standard aluminum or vinyl door, not too bad.....the glass runs about $75-100. Write back with more info describing the door and measure it every where you can and I'll tell ya how to do it.

Can't install storm door on entry door with operable sidelight

Recently bought an entry door from Lowes with two sidelights. The salesman mentioned that they are available with one of the sidelights being operable. In other words it is hinged and can be opened for moving in large pieces of furniture, etc. Thought it was a good idea so I ordered it that way. No problems installing the door but then realized that I couldn't install a storm door as the frame on the operable sidelight side of the door does not go out as far as the other side. Anyone ever run across this and have a solution? My wife wants me to rip it out as she likes a screen door during the summer.Read More

Drywall around window

I have a house where the drywall goes right up to the windows and I want to put wood trim around the windows. Do I remove the 3" of drywall in the window opening or put the wood over the drywall? Are there books that show pictures with detailed instructions for a job like this or is it something you just learn on the job? I need a visual aid so I can do this right. It seems that the drywall would have to be removed but I haven't read anything that says to do it in all the instructions I've read about how to trim a window on the net. They never show window openings like these.Read More
