installing new knobs
Does anyone know a simple way for a novice to install new and slightly larger doorknobs on interior doors?

You should be able to put new knobs on the squared threaded rod that fits through the existing lock mechanism.
Some door knobs have a set screw, and others work with a spring-loaded wire that you push in with a small flathead screwdriver.
