Replacing inside doors

I'm trying to replace my bedroom door. I already bought the new door, but it is about 1inch thinner then the original door. My question is. Is that ok, or does have to be the same thickness?

Thanks

How thick is the door you bought? How thick is the original?

Standard interior doors are 1-3/8" thick. If your original is 2-3/8" thick, you will be better off replacing it with a prehung door. The hardware (the latch and the hinges) are going to be a bear to try to line up.
