interior "security" door

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an interior door which would be asthetically pleasing and yet provide a moderate level of security? Im not looking for a commercial door look. It would be used in a bedroom to supply some security in case of a break-in.

Thanks
John

You could use a solid core door for the bedroom. Properly installed with 3 inch screws in the hinges, shims, and a 1 inch deadbolt lock, it would be as secure as a similar door on the exterior. These are usually available in the same styles as interior doors: panels, flush. Of course, the simplest course of action would be to use an exterior door in the first place.

The interior doors on my house are all solid wood doors. Except for their being 1-3/8 inch thick as are interior door normally, they are the same as the exterior doors. An exterior door is commonly 1-3/4 inches thick.

This solution would give you plenty of time to get out the Remington and Rotweiler.

Hope this helps.
