replacing 50 yr old windows

I have replaced my upstairs windows with new windows - Anderson, wood inside, alum clad. Because my house is a cape, you don't see any of the upstairs windows from the front of the house. When I replace the first floor windows, can anyone recommend another brand here in the northeast? The Andersons are OK - but I'd like to look at something else, also wood inside, double hung, with grids.

Ok, MsAnnie, I've looked at this one 3 or 4 times. Besides Andersen, the other window mfgr.s who are going to offer a wood interior and a clad, vinyl, fiberglass, or whatever exterior are going to be high-end windows. Nothing wrong with that.

A few names that come to mind would be Pella, Sierra Pacific, Marvin, ...

Search on-line, and check what brands your local glass shops have to offer. You're looking at a major investment -- $500 to $1,000 per window, maybe more. Don't be in a hurry to make up your mind!
