Rotten Door Frame

The bottom three inches of a door frame is rotten. I've been told I can cut out the bad part, but what do I do next

Take out the bottom three inches along with all the rest of it.....got to Lowes and buy a new, pre-hung door. Install it.

Crappy Picture Windows Gotta Go!!

I purchased a home built in 1968 and it has those horrible big picture windows in the front of the house (living room and kitchen). Imagine my surprise when I realized that all the caulking and glaze is falling out. Not just falling out, disentegrating! The wood frame is rotten and I am terrified the window is going to crash out into the yard! We want to replace them with 3 smaller windows but have no idea how. Can anyone help us??? Double Hung Window-Rope Replacement

I am currently restoring an older home built in the 1930's. Many of the windows are not working because of broken rope/and or Pulley's. I want to replace this cord, but, am rather at a loss as to how to go about it. I realize that the frame around the window will have to be removed in order to do this. The windows are all in good condition other than the broken cords. Any suggestions in what I will need to get this working correctly? AlsRead More
