Adding exterior trim around casement windows

I'm working on renovating a 1960's era house with stucco siding and single pane aluminum casement windows. I'd like to add 1"x 3" pine/fir trim around the outside of the windows to jazz up the appearance of the house a bit. I'm wondering about what is the best way to attach the wood trim to the stucco. Is there some kind of adhesive out there that works good? Or do I have to use some sort of concrete anchor set up? Or something else? All input is appreciated!! thanks

I plan to seal (with polyurathane caulking) between the trim and stucco, and then prime, and then top coat with exterior latex paint.

As near as I can tell, the stucco (chicken wire reinforced) is on the outside, with, what appears to be sheetrock directly under that, followed by black paper under the sheetrock. Then comes the 2x4 stud framing, with the interior wall covering (sheetrock).

its not that easy

you COULD nail trim aroun those windows but if you dont stop the water from getting behind the top casings you WILL be in trouble. my .02
