Wrong windows purchase :(

Wrong windows purchase :(

I would like some honest advice. We are doing an add on and remodel. All of the windows were special order.
Problem #1
One problem is with the kitchen windows. All of them are either over the counter, which includes a window box, or over the desk area. It wasn't until we installed them that I realized that I'm going to have to stand on something to open and close those windows. I know that I ordered the windows and signed for them. No one tried to talk me into getting the dbl hungs. I walked into the store and said I want to order dbl hungs. Therefore I know that I am responsible for the order. To change it at this point means that I have to pay a 40% re-stock fee, which would be too great a loss in my opinion.
My question is this: does the store/salesperson bear part of the responsibility for not telling me that "casements might be something to think about" because of the location?
Problem #2
The remainder of the windows are in the bedroom area: dbl-hung, wood interior. After installing the windows, I realized that none of them have a groove nor way in which I can raise or lower them other than pushing on the top rail of the lower sash or the bottom rail of the upper sash. There isn't room to install a handle either. I am concerned that there might be future problems with the windows in regard to the glass and wood separating due to the stress when opening and closing the windows.
I don't want to be a whiner/complainer and blame others for my ignorance and not educating myself better before I make a purchase. I went to the window dept of the store, said that "I want wood interior, dbl hungs windows in such and such sizes for such and such places. What do you have for the best price?" He looked at the computer, told me what he could do for me, and I consented.
For those of you who like to be candid, please tell me what you think. Do I need to 'bite the bullet? Thanks.

Uh, I think you answered that......
"No one tried to talk me into getting the dbl hungs. I walked into the store and said I want to order dbl hungs. "
You did it......don't try to put it off on them.
And on question 2....
"What do you have for the best price?" ......
You asked for it and got it...
........yep.....it's now time to bite that bullet.
The bitterness of a lousy product or service will last long past the sweetness of the initial cheap price.
But in the "for what it's worth" column, this doesn't hold a candle to some of the stupid crap I've done.......
