Covering vinyl siding
I too couldn't find a better forum so I'll try it here.
I want to build a raised garden bed. My final design is not finished, as this question may determine some of it.
Basically I am going to build a U shaped concrete block wall that I will face with stone on the top and exterior. Then I'll fill the inside with the dirt and a fountain.
To close the U, I will be using the house itself. The problem is this. The house has a vinyl siding. If I just stack up the dirt to rest against it will I destroy the vinyl not only hidden behind the dirt but more of it? Will moisture get trapped behid the vinyl (especially since I'll be putting a small fountain there).
So, should I just go ahead and make the garden box square of the cinder blocks? If I do this, should I place anything between the cinder blocks and the siding?
Thanks in advance.

Don't put the dirt up against the house, REGARDLESS of what kind of siding is on it! The dirt would hurt the vinyl (other than probably staining it), but the moisture WILL destroy everything BEHIND the vinyl.
