Door threshold with raised tile

I have recently replace the flooring in our front entry with tile. I added 1/2" plywood and then the tile. Due to this additional thickness the door sweep will not clear a rug at the door. I looked into replacing the thershold with one that has a vinyl gasket, but the extisting threshold is about 6" wide with the seal point at the inside but the replacment ones I have seen are about 3.5" inches wide with the seal point near center which would not align with the door (and would interfer with the tile already installed.

Might just have to deal with the rug next the door.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Sorry -- now you are beginning to understand the term 20/20 hind sight!!

WHY THE 1/2" PLYWOOD??? (I'm sure that's what gotcha!!)

If the house is on a slab, you could have put the tile directly on the concrete.

If the house is on a rasied wood floor, Hardie makes 1/4" Hardi-Backer -- I'll bet that if the tile was 1/4" lower, everything would be fine!

McEX, your choices are few.

Do you want to tear out the entry tile and do it differently, or replace the front door???
