I am considering turning a screened in porch into a full use room. I live in a post and beam house and the porch screening is framed in 4x6 and 6x6 timbers. The openings range in size from 30x64 to 36x64.....10 in total. I was going to purchase some standard sized windows and frame out the openings to fit. I decided to call Nescor for an estimate on custom windows. After a 3 hour presentation.....the windows seem to be excellent quality...I got a quote of about $1100 each. I realize this is grossly overquoted before the iratating negotiating...the callbacks...etc,etc,etc... So...has anybody heard /purchased from Nescor? [url]www.nescoronline.com[/url] Does anyone have a similar product? It is a vinyl, double hung, triple glass,Krpyon gas (middle portion is their "NASA developed reflecting special glass"). It has foam insulation throughout the frame,etc,etc. If anybody has heard of Kirby vacums..thay have a similar presentation...overbuilt, overpriced...but can negotiate down pretty low if you are persistant enough. Any info/insight is appreciated!!

We live in a 50 year old house. The windows are original (they are actually metal). Our home is not efficient, extremely cold in the winter. We have thought about replacing the windows in hope that would help. I have a few questions. If you have replaced window, did it help significantly? Secondly, a contractor suggested we use Don Young windows. He said they are a good value and will provide the sound barrier we need (we live close to the interstate). Any input on this brand?? Replacing windows is a big financial investment since we have 22 windows, so I want to make sure I make the right decision. Thank you for any advice. Wendy
