Need Windows replaced. One badly-cracked...

Our house is over 40 years old and needs new windows. They are old single-paned metal framed, sliding windows side-to-side. We need to have new windows to insulate the house and help keep sound out. Any ideas for us in how to remove and replace old windows with newer windows that will improve insulation?

We have stucko exterior. I would like to replace the windows without messing up the framing and stucko exterior too much.

You need to get Lefty to answer this one......I rarely deal with stucco as it isn't used here.

What size door to install

I have a door opening into my bsmt which is roughly 37" wide. The material is cinder block. My question is "Can I install a 34" wide steel door and just attach the jambs to the cinder block or do I NEED to frame it out with a 2x4 ? I would like to make it as wide as possible. Thanks JoeRead More

Patio Door Trim

[Can anyone tell I'm finishing my basement?] I started to do the trim around my patio door downstairs and I ran into a few questions. I have no trouble with the casing trim. However, the frame-side of the door needs trim, too and I was thinking mullion casing-- 1/4" X 2". I actually need something that's 3/4" X 2", so I can cover up the gap between the door jam and the frame, but I haven't seen anything like it anywhere.
