Slider Screen Adjustment

I'm constantly cleaning the tracks and TRYING the adjust the rollers on the screens for my sliding glass doors. I can't seem to get them to move smoothly.

What is the correct way to adjust them?

thanks,
Mel

Have you checked the rollers under the slider? They may be broken, or it may be that they are just jambed and don't roll. May be time to replace them.

Does this door have top rollers? If so, they need to have some tensoin on them as well. If there are no top rollers, then there SHOULD be top guides in place so that the screen frame doesn't get hung up on the slider frame.

Lastly, is this one of those 'one-size-fits-all' screen doors? If it is, my suggestion is to throw it away and have a glass shop make you a new screen door.

You don't say what type of door you have, but , if its like mine, a Peachtree French door , then there is an adjustment on the top and bottom. What worked for me was to turn the screws on the bottom set of wheels in beyond the spring tension so it is actually pushing on the wheel mechanism and holding the weight. In other words, it isn't riding on the spring at all. Just set the top wheels so that its enough to keep the wheels on the track and that should do it. Of course, if yours is something else then please disregard.
