Can you paint black aluminum window frames? If so, how? I would really like them white. Thanks.

I'm very new, please bear with me. After I sand, do I use a primer, then paint? What type of primer and paint would you recommend? Do I need to put anything on after the paint (some type of sealer??) What type of brush would you use? Any tricks to avoid seeing brush strokes? How many coats of each and how long should I let it dry between coats? Sorry for all the detailed questions. As I said, I'm very new in the home improvement world, but excited at the possibilities!! Thanks again.

Hello Mary24,
I believe you should use acrylic latex paint and primer on non-ferrous metal (aluminum). I also believe in buying the best grade of paint available from any given manufacturer. To be absolutely certain, go to a reputable paint dealer and ask for their recommendation.
If you do use latex, you'll want a high quality synthetic brush. To do window frames, try a sash brush...you'll love it. Expect to pay $15 or $20, or even more for a good brush. Again, you'll find the better brushes at a paint dealer in my experience.
Pick up a paint bucket. Never paint from the can. Ask for tips and practice on something other than the windows for a bit.
Good luck,
