New Ext Doors in Window Opening

New Ext Doors in Window Opening
I have an existing aluminum window in a brick wall that I plan to replace with a pre-hung steel french doors. The ext. window opening is wider than the new door unit. I plan to fill in this area to each side with bricks removed from below the window. My question is in the planning of this instalation... Should I demo and rough frame the door unit first and brick to this after? Or should I brick to the expected brick opening and use brick mould to finish this?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Hey Dave welcome to the forums.
I'd do the demo & the door rough in, at that point it doesn't matter whether the door is installed before or after the new door. I would guess that your new door unit will have brick moulding included on the unit, so that needs to be planned for when you lay the brick. That mist be quite a window to be wider than a french door, probably going to want an extra set of hands around to help with it's removal & you definitely need a helper to set the new door. After you get the new door unit set, use some low expansion spray foam to seal up any gaps around it. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. The window unit is 7'2"w x 3'7"h. The door unit is a pr of 2'6 x 6'8. I will be removing the brick below the window and filing in to each side. I installed the same doors in a siding wall recently- the brick is making me think a bit though. The door unit is outswing and does not have anything that seams like a good place to terminate the brick or a place clear to apply brick mould. I will get out and find an example or two to help out as well. Thanks again for your help.
