window trim

I'm installing a double hung window. I have a brick house with the rough opening built out so that I am using an Andersen window with a nail fin. How do I cover & seal this nail fin with vinyl when I'm done?
Thanks.

Cover the nail fin with a window sealer, (a roofing Ice and water product, you can get it at a home center) it comes in a roll that is 4" by 66' then trim it out with lumber. Don't forget to put in a drip cap, and start at the bottom and work up so water runs away from the window. You may want to rent a Press Brake to cover the trim with a coil stock.

Thanks I'll do that. The windows are recessed into the brick about 3" , do I need a drip cap & explain that if you would.
Thanks again.

If the outside of the window frame is recessed back into the exterior brick by 3" or so, then you won't need the drip cap.

Thanks for clearing that up. The window was suppored to be in yesterday but now Home Depot says Tues. so the project is postponed until next Sat. This is the 1st time I've replaced a window so I might have more questions before then.
Thanks again.

If it's the first time you've replaced a window, I KNOW you'll have more questions!!

And welcome to the world of HD deliveries. I know they said "Thursday" -- but did they mention WHICH Thursday??

The window came in on Tues. The storm screen combination unit and stool is backordered. Home Depot at it again. I installed the window on Sat. The job went slow but smooth. I have to wait for the b/o stuff to finish the inside but at least they can put the awnings up.
Thanks for all your help.
