Octagon Window Installation

I have ordered an octagon window that I would like to install in an existing, finished wall of a 10yr old home, what is the easiest way to correctly install it? Will I have to take the siding off or can I cut the hole straight through and work from there to ( I guess) put in the framework and such?

Since you mention removing the siding, I take it you have wood or vinyl siding. If that's the case, work from the outside. Remove enough siding so that you can frame the opening for the window, and once that is done, simply cut out just the sheetrock on the inside that you need to. Then cut the siding as needed when you reinstall it. Seal everything well.

Thanks lefty, I was hoping not to have to take the siding off(wood) due to none of the lumber stores carry the particular siding style that is on the house anymore.

Then do it from the inside. In that case you'll be cutting just the hole you need for the window in the siding, but you'll be patching the sheetrock. One way or the other, you'll need a large enough hole in one side of the wall or the other to frame the opening for the new window.
