Screen Doors

I want to replace my screen doors but they measure larger (30 x 84) than the standard size. How can I make the opening smaller so that I can replace the door with a (30 x 80) door?

If you really can find an 84" door, add a 2 X 4 to the top of the jamb.

pocket doors

Hi, I'm planning a bedroom in the basement and would like to install a pocket door to save space. Unfortunately, I know what I want, but not how to get there. I'm planning on framing with 2X4's. What do I need to consider in the area of the door? Do I need to go with a 6 inch wall and frame near the door with 2X2? Is there a kit available for a pocket door(ie. door, track, hardware)? Do I need to modify a conventional door? Any help and information I can get will be appreciated. Thanks

Framing a bump out window

I am considering removing the old wood casement window over my kitchen sink and am looking for any information on framing for a bump-out window as well as flashing it and what goes on top. I recall a while back reading an article in one of the hundreds of magazines regarding the framing/flashing, searched high and low for weeks and cant find it. I may be calling it by the wrong name searched the web with no result.The rough framing now is 2X4 and I beleive I reframe with a 2x10. Any info would Grrrrrrrreatly appreciated.
