Pocket Doors

We are in the midst of remodeling, and would like to put an upstairs laundry off the bathroom. The clearance is not optimal for a regular door. Could pocket doors be used in this sitution, as long as the wall was long enough to accommodate the door interior? Also, can ANY door be made into a pocket door?

Thanks in advance.

I put pocket doors in two bathrooms for just that reason (avoid wasted floor space).

I got the frames, channels and rollers in kits from Home Depot and hung door blanks that matched the other interior doors.

Since neither of my doors was in a bearing wall, framing was no problem. If you're in a bearing wall, you'll need to frame in the right sized header.
