I'm getting ready to replace all my 20 yr. old casement windows with casements.. OR tilting double hung.. OR "something".. The options seem endless. Hopefully the experts can help me sort this all out... 1. I am tired of the discoloration and water damage on the sills. Is this common only with casements? 2. I need a maintenance free exterior. What is better, aluminum or vinyl? (I have steel siding.) 3. Any advantange or disadvantange with casements vs. double hung? 4. Any non-advertising web sites that can help with these questions? 5. I'm not moving again...ever. I need something that lasts. I know this has been posted to death, but do you really pay extra for a better window or are you just subsidizing advertising? Thanks!! Bob

:) I need to replace many old cracked and broken wood windows. I think they are original and 80 years old. They are single panes double hung. At some point in the 70’s aluminum storms were installed also old cracked and crappy. Question is, it best to fix these somehow or replace them. If replace is it best to go wood or the vinyl with no storms. Thanks for any tips and advice
