Casement windows

Are casement windows synonymous with having a wood framed window? Here's my issue - we are building a house in Texas and more than anything my wife has always wanted crank out windows. The builder says those only exist as casement windows with wood frames and that they are typically at least 3x the cost. Now this is not a small or inexpensive house which is a catch-22: we want to get what we'll be happy with since the house is 5000 square feet and we're staying here forever, however we are already way over budget and I can't imagine paying 3x over the window budget.

Is there such a thing as crank style aluminum windows that are comparable in price to regular lift up aluminum windows?

Thanks for the opinion...

Your builder is full of it, they make them out of aluminum, vinyl, wood, and thermal extrusion. you can do a goolge search or talk to a glass shop in your area.

I was afraid of that... and almost afraid to look once we got to the point where it really was almost too late to change them.

You trust that when you ask your builder multiple times and the answer is cut-and-dry every time that he isn't steering you wrong. Live and learn.

But are true wood casement windows truly 3x the cost, just in case we decide to ever have them redone in the future?

when I said he was full of it, I ment in cost and able to get.
They may cost a LITTLE more , but NOT 3x's

Why would a builer do this I have no idea.

Best thing to do is drop by a glass shop or look at your HD or Lowe's and price them. He is under your employment building your house, I would show him the prices and ask why he lied. But then I'm a jerk that way
