hidden doors

I am looking for info. on how to construct a hidden door that swings out preferably, but one that swings in would be acceptable.
Thanks.

There are many different types of hidden doors. How big is the door? Will it be heavy like a bookcase or wardrobe?

A hidden door will need very fine gaps around the edges and for that everything has to be perfect and stay that way. I like to build a steel jamb and door frame for large & heavy doors (bookcases, shelving units...). It's difficult to get everything perfect, but steel does not sag with time or shrink & swell like wood can.

Grab a drink and spend an hour going through your house looking at all the doors (room, cabinets, refridgerator, entertainment center, toaster oven, microwave...). See their hinges and see how the door moves. Cabinets with european hinges are fun, but when you look closely at them they are a bit complex. Most all other hinges are visible, but simple. How hidden do you want your door?
