Stuck aluminum sliding window.

I have 40 year old aluminum sliding windows. One was stuck shut. I fought and pried and managed to get the window completely out. I then vacuumed out the track; steam cleaned out the stuck on gunk off the bottom, side and top track areas. I then cleaned the frame around the glass pane; and sprayed silacon on all slide surfaces, top, bottom, and side. I put the pane back in the track. It slides beautifully. I slid it shut and that is where it stuck! Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Claudia

A 40 year old aluminum window?? Replace it with a vinyl window. That's a start. The rest of the windows in the house are next.

Check the interlock where the sashes overlap in the center. If it is bent or kinked that could make the window get stuck.
