Exclamation Hurricane damaged front door

Morning everyone
Our son was in the hurricanes in florida. His front door continues to have problems. It takes two strong men to shut the door on humid days. The door is a whole unit surrounded by glass framed paines top and sides. they are not side lites and transoms. The glass framed sides and top is now out of square by 1/4 to 3/8" . When ever it rains the swelling of the door itself and the framing around the glass is severe and causes the door not to latch. The framing around the glass has several cracks in the wood surrounding them. We have reshaved the door as the insurance company suggested, however it still continues to be diffcult. The door is quite larges 80 wide by 100 tall. When we go to the insurance I would like to approch them with a technical reason why this is happtening. My contractor just simply says replace it. But insurance companies want to know what causes this. The house is a stucoo bock house.
Thanks in advance

So, get technical. Hire an engineer (PE). Should your sons insurance policy provide for reimbursement of the engineering report insist on reimbursement for it also.

The signed report is a legal document, The insurcance company must accept it or hire another engineer to refute it. The opinion of a contractor or another pro is not a substitute for an engineering report.

You have described conditions under which an ordinary person (excluding dimwits) would be able to discern why the door doesn't close properly. They are pulling your sons chain.
