Opinions on Norco Windows

My architect has recommended using Norco windows on an addition that we are doing to our house. He says that they are reliable middle of the road windows. The contractor disagrees and says the are not reliable over time. Does any one else have an opinion they can share?

Norco windows are part of the Jeld-Wen family. Norco, Pozzi, and Caradco are the three woodwindow companies under the Jeld-Wen umbrella.
Within Jeld-Wen Pozzi is considered to be the Premium window, Norco is considered to be the custom window, and Caradco is considered to be the standard window.

All three of these windows use the Cardinal IGU system...If you decide to go with the Norco, ensure that you specify the Cardinal XL spacer - I don't know if Norco offers an aluminum spacer, but if so, avoid it.

What does your builder suggest instead of the Norco?

Also, whatever window you eventually decide on, LowE is a must and argon fill is also beneficial.

Sliding Door Closer - child safety

We have a rather heavy glass sliding door facing our back yard and pool. It has an attachment on it (now broken) that auto-closes to help prevent the little kids from getting out. It is also code here in Phoenix. The device that we have is a bar with weight in it that hangs vertically on the back of the door. A very thin wire runs over the top of the door and screws into the top of the frame. Gravity drives this thing. I cannot find this anywhere. Does anyone know where to get a replacement or can you point me in the right direction? Thx, Dan

confusing door lingo

:confused: Well, I have a problem with my bedroom door. It wont shut! Not even a little. I don't know all the fancy lingo so what I have read so far does not help. It latches on the left side and swings away from me when inside my room....not sure if that even matters. It may be caused by settling, but it's not my house so I can't do anything about that. The gap on the top part of the door is about a half inch the whole way. It is getting hung up on the bottom of the left side. The paint is all gone on that part. When I actually look at the door to see where it is hitting, it looks like the whole left side, and not one section over another. The door is really squeaky too. Whatever, it's just an all around screwed up door......Please help.
