Windows will not stay up!!
I have several vinyl windows in my house that will not stay up. Is there any way to fix this problem without replacing the windowws? The windows are only about 12 years old, and are otherwise in good shape. I am not sure of the manufacturer.

"Only 12 years old" for some vinyl windows means it's time for some repairs. There are 4 possible problems if the window has spiral balances (tube type):
1. The balance needs more tension.
2. The balance needs replacing.
3. The locking shoe that the balance attaches too is broken.
4. The pivot bar at the bottom of the sash that goes into the shoe is broken.

seem the tension is off or broken pin holding the sash at the bottom.
Try to check what make are the windows
or used a paint stir stick to hold them up lol lol

We always used sticks to hold up windows in the old farmhouse in which I grew up. The old ropes that held the window weights had long since rotted and broke before my family moved in. In the summer the little sliding screens could be inserted in windows and they supported the windows in open position.
