I'm currently remodeling my kitchen and I want to replace the double casement window above my sink. The existing Anderson casement is 25 years old and has some leaks. How easy is it to replace the window myself? Any good tips? Also, I'm assuming the casement comes with new construction framing. If not, the current exterior framing is wood and I want to wrap it in aluminum or vinyl to make it maintenance free. I can easily access the outside from a small step ladder. Is this a relatively easy job? Thanks!

When you say "new construction framing," I assume you're talking about the outside of the window. New Andersons are vinyl on the outside. Wood on the inside is an option if you'd like the look and feel of an older window.
Pgtek's question is key. If the exterior of your house is vinyl, wood, or aluminium, that's one thing. Brick and stone is another.

Yup, I realize the exterior of the window will be vinyl so I'm just referring to the framing around the window. The outside of the home is vinyl sided. I have heard one of the ways to finish the outside is with a composite material. Any ideas how that is compared to wrapping the existing frame in aluminum? I imagine some sort of framing is needed because I don't think the window can run directly into the siding. Thanks!
