Hanging an interior door in a stairway?
I'm currently refinishing my basement as a Home Theater. In an effort to isolate excessive volume from the rest of the house, I want to put a door in on the lower landing of the stairway. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and if so where I might get information on how to do it?

Does your staircase make a u-turn at this landing (the landing would measure 3' x 6'?) Or does the staircase make a 90 degree turn at the landing, (and the landing is 3' x 3'?)

Code requirements are pretty strict in this situation. I don't understand them completely but you should check into it more. There are requirements for landings (with some exceptions for intermediate landings) and for which way the door swings (generally has to open toward the exit direction.
