Window Installation

I run a licensed child daycare from my home. I have since 1997. The business is now being set up in our new home in another County. I had a fire inspection on Friday and I was told that I had to have a second door or window installed for "fire escape". The window must be 32" X 50". We have located a perfect spot for the window and it will be above ground. How do we go about installing this window. We have never done work like this before. All hwlp and advice will be greatly appreciated!

What are the interior and exterior surfaces of your house and what type of window is this, who is the mfg.does it have a model #?

I thought I understood this but am confused again. I need to order some latch hardware, and the book says it fits LH or LHR. The other one fits RH or RHR. Is it the case that LHR is sort of like a RH but the key is opposite? Or put another way, does LHR mean it is a door opening IN with the hinges on the LEFT as you face OUT? The Adams-Rite book is confusing as to what I need to order, because it talks about some being field convertible, but not necesarily to all 4 configurations.

Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this forum. I've scoured the net trying to find a solution to my problem without any success. I've also browsed through the threads in this forum and can't say I've noticed anyone else ask this question. I just purchased a home that's about 27 years old. I've owned several homes through the years but I've come across a first for me. All the interior passage doors are hollow metal frames with metal casings. I've never seen these and I'm hoping the casings are not a permanent part of the frame. Can anyone tell me if and how the casings can be removed? I want to replace the plain, poorly painted casings with paint grade colonial casings. I realize I'll need to glue them on since there's no nailing surface. Has anyone done this? Thanks! Larry
