Patio door replacement
I am planning to replace a sliding patio door that is 78 inches(6.5 feet) wide but I have been told at home depot that the standard width is 72 inches(6 feet). Does anyone know about a manufacturer that has the 78 inch size?

You don't want to get into the cost of a 78" wide patio door. Frame the opening down so that a standard 6' wide door will fit.
Patio doors have tempered glass. Tempered glass is MADE to size -- it's not something that is CUT to size. So the glass mfgrs. make standard sized panes, and that's what all the slider mfgrs use. To get a pane that is something other than a standard size you'll pay big bucks -- the glass mfgr has to set up the jigs, make your 4 panes, then reset the jigs.
