Replacement Windows
I am deciding between Home Depot and Sears at home services for installing replacement windows. Anyone have any advice as to which one is better? The high end HD seems the same as the medium Sears product, although I really am not sure of that.
Thanks in advance.

I don't want to sound like I'm bashing Sears, but I had some friends who got a bid from Sears once (for siding) and it was astronomical. Their salesmen used all the usual techniques to get them to sign "tonight", even the old "let me call my boss" technique. At any rate, their bottom dollar was still about 50% higher than what I would have deemed to be reasonable. Often contractors that are licenced by Sears (or even Lowes or Home Depot, for that matter) have to charge a LOT to cover their overhead and the extra liability that those companies require them to have.
As far as the quality is concerned, I am sure that those contractors will do an excellent job. Those companies surely only have reputable, qualified installers that do quality work, since their name (Sears / Home Depot) is at stake.
I guess what I'm getting at is that you might be able to get just as good of quality and installation at a better price if you shopped someplace that specializes in windows. Or, better yet- buy the best replacement window you can find and read up on how to do-it-yourself! That's what this forum is all about.

Thanks - unfortunately I don't have the type of time required to learn or otherwise do the work, otherwise I would do it. What I am looking for here is whether anyone has had any experiences with contractors from either company, and what that experience was - good bad or otherwise.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
