It might help to know where you live, how many windows you are replacing, what sort of windows you are interested in (wood, vinyl, fiberglass, other).

Thank you for your answer...i live in new jersey...i have 10 windows to replace ...included in the 10 are 3 double windows...i am interested in vinyl...not necessarily top of the line because i don't intend to stay in this house for too any years...

 

Start shopping. 3 national brands that would seem to fit your requirements are Alside, Certainteed, and Simington. There are others as well, plus regional brands. Get quotes and listen to what the salesperson is saying regarding warranties and features.

 

When you talk with the salesfolks, be sure to ask them about options such as LowE and gas infill.
LowE coating is what really makes a dual pane window an energy advantage. In your enviromnment you will notice a comfort and energy bill difference in a window with and without a LowE coating.
Installation is just about the most important part of a new window. The very best window in the world, if installed poorly, will give you nothing but trouble. An average window with a top-notch install will be a much better product ultimately.

LowE glass almost goes without saying anymore. At this time of year, many mfgrs. will be giving it to you with no additional charge. Even if you have to pay for the upgrade, it is one that will pay for itself within a matter of months.

It probably gets cold enough in NJ to warrant adding a gas fill.
