Sash are dreadfully expensive, as I'm sure you've found out by now . However, I would recommend Mitremaster in Cork City. Their in the Golden Pages. Good luck
We've been in our first house a little less than a year and I recently discovered that 3 of my windows have broken tilt latches- the little plastic tabs you squeeze that release the top of the window from the tracks so you can tilt it in to clean it, etc. The little tabs snapped off, I guess due to age, but now I've got a problem because if I open the window even a crack, it comes crashing top-first into the room. I'd like to buy replacement tilt latches but I have no idea who made our windows. Does anyone know if manufacturers' names are printed in some standard place on the window? Or have any work-around ideas? Thanks for any help!
I have some doors in my basement where the ceiling is a little low. I need to drop the height of the door opening enough so that the door and frame are not touching the ceiling. Is there a standard minimum height? Obviously, not so low that you bump your head while walking in . . .
Also - with the door frame - I'm putting these in before carpet/padding is installed. Does the door frame touch the concrete floor and carpet goes around it or is the door frame raised 1/2" above the concrete floor (like the baseboard that will go around the walls)? Thanks.
