Jiggling Door

I have several doors in the house that "jiggles" when the door is shut and if a window is open. It is very annoying. I sometimes have to jam a sliding rubber doorstop under the door from the INSIDE of the room to stop the jiggling.

PLEASE HELP!

You can do one of two things: Move your strike plate back 1/8" or so, or else move your door stop toward the door 1/8". Sometimes just tapping the doorstop toward the door with a block of wood and a hammer will work. (so as not to mark up the trim) Other times, you need to remove the door stop and renail it.

Sometimes you can take small pieces of felt or padding and glue them in the corners or bottoms of the door stops. That may create just enough cushion so the door no longer has room to rattle.

Hi, Take the strike plate off and bend the little piece of metal on the back of the plate to make the hole smaller and reinstall.
