Hi - In the basement room that I am finishing, there is an existing interior door that was hung and trimmed during the construction.
I removed the existing trim and wood spacers that had been installed and put up my 5/8" sheet of drywall. The problem is that, the door seems to have been set up to accept 1/2" drywall - so I'm going to have a gap between the door frame and the piece of trim that I'll be installing.
I'm sure that I can just caulk the gap and it will look decent/ok - but I was wondering if there were any alternatives to caulking that might work better?
Thanks for the help.

Use a small drywall rasp and remove the edge of the drywall, completely around the door. Do not rasp beyond the casing line.
You can use a knife to score and remove the drywall paper by pulling it off in strips. That will make it easier to rasp.
Does this door lead to the garage?
