windows compromise?
we're considering replacing three windows - one currently held together by duct tape, one with a very old fashioned screen system, and one that lets in a lot of air. we'll paint the rest of the window frames - the house is brick.
the first two windows are in a kind of extended dormer that needs to be re-sided. its currently wood siding and we want to replace with vinyl so we'll be looking for a windows and siding company to do the work. we'd like a transferrable warranty, if possible, bc we'll probably need to move in about 2 years. also, the house is a duplex and we doubt that the next owner will live in the house (as we do.)
local or national on this kind of job? what's the general suggestion?
ps. don't suggest i diy this one, its beyond me, i know my limits!
thanks, zp

Check your classified ads in the newspaper and yellow pages. Get at least three estimates. Contractor should have worker's compensation insurance as well as liability insurance. Worker's comp in case he gets hurt on the job and liability in case he damages your property. Homeowner's insurance will not cover these events. Get references and call or go see some of their work.
