Best door type for Florida

We are getting ready to replace our original old metal front door. Hubby wants a real wood one, but I've heard stories about warping and swelling with the humidity down here. Altho I would love a real wood door also, I think fiberglass would a wood-like finish would stand up better and not swell. Any thoughts?

check there some firberglass door that looks and fell like real wood
dont go to hd or lowes, go to a door and window company

Tinting windows vs by tinted windows

I just built a new home, and have a family room with a vaulted ceiling. We have two french doors (one on each side of our chimney). Above each of them is a triangle shaped window. On the floor level, on each outter side of the french doors, are two sets of windows, about 12 feet high. When the sun gets on that side of the house....I feel like we are living in a green house! The central air just runs.... I feel that we should tint those triangled shaped windows at the exterior end of the family room....or, replace them with tinted windows. Is there anyone who has had their windows tinted with a film, that might be able to give me their opinion on how they like the end appearance of the film? Or is just paying the extra money, and purchasing tinted windows more the ways to go? Or is there still another way I can stop this green house effect!?Read More

Looking for 9'x9' door

I am in the process of designing a home theater room and am looking to see if anyone might have any suggestions for an interior door I am trying to come up with. I was thinking of possibly using a glass or solid core slider since it will substantially reduce the noise getting out of this room and into the rest of the house. However, I also want to be able to have a large opening (9') when I entertain and don't care about the noise. This 9' door would need to slide into a 6' storage area (maybe like a pocket door) or just slide along a 6' section of a parallel wall. A sliding door with three 3' panels where all 3 slide into the "pocket" would probably work best. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might find something like this?? Thanks.Read More
