New Windows

Hi,

I live in a tudor with the attic converted into an additional bedroom. There are 2 inoperable decorative windows in the front once you come up the stairs, and 2 more at the back end of the room which runs the length of the house. Along one wall is the bathroom and closets, and the other wall nothing. I want to know if its possible (rather, feasible) to cut new windows into the walls (to ventilate the room better and bring in more light), and how much I should be putting aside to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

The place where you want these windows to go... would they be going through the roof, or is it a gable end?

the roof is triangular.. But i'd like to put in a couple of skylights and cut windows into the wall itself.
