Thermal Seal in Window broken

Can you do anything about this? Or do you have to buy new windows? LoL

Is there a huge downfall to them not being thermal sealed, or is it electricity bill related?

Thanks,
Eileen

Usually a new IGU (insulating glass unit) can be ordered and installed. Glass companies will send someone out to measure and can give you an estimate. IGU's with failed seals no longer posess the same properties they did when they were new. You will notice annoying moisture between the glass which will get worse with time. You might also notice a few degrees difference in the wintertime which might lead to more condenstation or even icing on the interior of the glass.

I see. Do I just look in the phone book for a local glass company to fix it? I'm assuming it's not a great DIY project, huh? LoL

yes. not really a DIY project, no. For a DIY to measure the glass, you practically have to take it out, and the glass often breaks when you try to remove it. But you can always ask the guy that comes out to measure if he could tell you how to DIY. Some IGU's aren't too hard to replace, others are a real bear.
