pre-hung doors don't close

In the winter I put in 8 pre-hung doors and did as best as I could. Now that the temp are hot, 3 of the doors have expanded and don't close without being pushed hard.

I think I need to strip a 1/4 inch off of either the hige side of the doors or the knob side. Any suggestions would be great for what would be easiest to make them fit.

Thanks.

1st. First check the hinge screws to see that they are snug. Most important step!

2nd. Push/pull the door to insure there is zero movement that needs to be addressed. Second most important step!!!

3rd. Bar soap the door edge for a quick fix.

4th. Plane off 1/16" off the latch edge of the door.

Lugnut has good suggestions. I would probably first install one 3" screw in every hinge, and try to pull the jamb just a little tighter toward the stud. If that didn't work, I'd take the door off the hinge and use a belt sander on the latch side of the door. It probably doesn't need much.

We've got a spec house for sale with the same problems. Funny how things expand when it gets hot and humid.
