want window in new home basement..
Hello all,
Getting ready to break ground next week(finally!!)My print calls for 4 glass block windows(your normal glassblock type basement window)but I was thinking of having it changed to a normal size type window you would find on a main floor. Something in the range of 3' wide by 4 or 5' high. I don't need them to be egress as I will have a bilco entry to the basement. I was just wondering what types of windows will work. Are there special windows you have to buy that will be installed between concrete? Also, would these windows need a header, or can they be flush with the top-of-wall, just as a glass block window is? Thanks for any info...

You will likely want to line the cement opening with PT wood, then you can install a new construction window that comes with a nailing fin. I would also recommend that the window have a header, for the simple fact that you probably don't want your window right up against your basement ceiling.
For example, an Anderson CW145 200 or 400 series casement (28 3/8 x 52 13/16) would fit nicely in a cement block opening that is 32 x 56 1/2, since after it is lined with PT wood, the RO would be about 29 x 53 1/2.
