is it ok to shave off bottom of prehung door?

My basement is getting done and there is not quite enough room to frame in the prehung door where I want it cause of ducts. I would have to remove like an inch off the bottom at most. Is this ok to do? And what is the best way to do it?

Yes, it is OK to do. You must realize that cutting 1" off the bottom of the jamb and door will also lower your doorknob by 1", which usually isn't a big deal. If you were lowering the door by 2 or 3", you might want to disassemble the jamb and take the cut off the TOP of the door to keep the doorknob height at standard.

To cut the door, take it off its hinges and lay it on sawhorses and put masking tape across the area you intend to cut. Then mark your line on the tape, and using a straightedge, score the top of the door with a sharp knife. This will cut the veneer so that the sawblade won't create tearout as it comes up through the door. Then cut the excess off with a skilsaw and good carbide blade. It usually helps DIY'ers to clamp a straightedge to the door when you do this. After the cut, remove the tape and clean up the cut with some fine sandpaper. You may have to glue the solid blocking back into the bottom edge of the door. This can usually be done by cleaning up the piece you just cut off and reinserting it into the door along with a generous helping of wood glue. Use a board on both sides and some clamps to apply even pressure while the glue dries.
