Last window decision

We are going to have windows in a concrete block wall. The wall will be about 8' 6" high. If we have a 4' window height then would it look alright to have it located just below the first (top) course of block ? This in total would give about 9" above the window to the ceiling. There would be about 3' below the bottom of the window to the floor. Does this sound alright ?

Does the window trim line up with nearby trim?
That would be the only reason that I can envision modifying your plan.
If close by trim is at a height that is nearly, but not equal to the window trim it will look like an error.

Sorry about that. I forgot to mention that the first bottom course will be covered with backfill and slab. I was also using the 4' window as an example. We actually have different size windows. I guess I'm asking if all of the tops of the windows was about 9" down from the ceiling then would it look alright or does that sound too high for a 8' high ceiling ?

Last window decision

My masonry home had an 8' - 4" wall height above the floor with a vaulted ceiling.

I had 2 courses of block plus the thickness of the buck above all doors and windows to maintain a uniform appearance. My windows were of varying heights (3' to 5') beacuse of the earth berming around the outside. Both the interior and exterior looked OK with nothing unusual.

Thanks for the help. Last minute jitters I guess. I went with one course above all the windows and door. I've had more time to measure and look and I believe everything is going to be alright.

I'm having my carpet replaced with laminate flooring so I replaced my closet and bathroom door. Since this was my first time, I guess I should have read some of the tips of the trade. I pulled up the carpet and placed the closet door on the cement slab. I got a little smarter with the second door, I placed tile under the jambs to allow for the flooring then checked for level. I guess I should have also cut the jambs because now the there is to much space between the door and floor for my taste. Should I have waited for the floors to be installed first?

finishing bi-fold opening

Hi all, I'm framing bi-fold doors into a new closet and I was told that unlike traditional doors bi-folds do not require any aditional space for door jambs. I've already framed the opening at 72" by 80" so my question is what do I finish the door opening with? Do I drywall around the opening? Wouldn't this take up 1" of my opening? I know there are probably about a dozen differrent ways to do this so let me know the accepted standard way. Thankyou
