exterior door below slab

I am having a home addition (shell) put on through a GC. The door sub put the exterior doors in today. The aluminum threshold is lower than the interior slab. So any flooring I put down will be higher than the threshold. This doesn't seem right?? I am planning to address this with my GC tomorrow. Am I wrong? Thanks for any help.

Which way does the door swing, and if inswinging, when it swings open, how high will it be off the flooring? Will there be enough room to put a rug down? If not, they need to go higher and you are right.

Thanks for the reply Xsleeper.

The doors open out. Is it OK for the threshold to be ~ 1/4" lower than the slab in this case? For my existing exterior doors (they also open outward), the threshold sits on the slab. We are planning to have hardwood floors in this area and I'm not sure what to do where the floor will meet the door threshold? Thanks.

You can buy a threshold at the "big box"... that is adjustable. You can raise it as high as you need, within reason. The door itself can be trimmed on the bottom (solid doors one way, hollow core another) to make it fit. All is not lost!

If you have an outswinging door, the installer may have figured that you would run your finished floor out on top of the threshold, covering it up. Your GC will understand the situation, i'm sure.
