difference between windows?
I'm getting ready to order replacement windows,a few at a time, for my ninety yr old home and install them myself. When I get prices they tell me there are 3 different levels of windows and I'm curious if there is alot of difference between the mid and high end windows. the difference in price is about $100 per window and at 15 windows this is a considerable savings. Is it worth paying $100 per window for the high end? Thank you.
Any other information to take when buying the windows would be helpful

The biggest thing to do is make sure you "measure twice, cut once" so to speak. My sister in law just ordered a 8ft X 12ft window.... turns out the measurements were wrong.... and she's got a window she can't use that cost her $2200. Ouch!
You are the only one who can decide whether or not the extra money is worth it. Get the vendor to give you specifics on why one is better than the other.... Quite often, you get what you pay for.... Then again, you don't necessarily need all the bells and whistles... If you live in a cold/hot climate, extra insulation is worth it's weight in gold...
Also... get more than one set of estimates. Sometimes, local manufacturers can give you better pricing due to reduced shipping costs (especially with $3.00+ gasoline). Check your yellow pages and the BBB.
