Help with new indoor window

I have two rooms separated by a plasterboard wall each side of the wall.

I want to make a small window in the middle if this wall.

It will be 10" high and 30" wide and have 2 panes of glass separated by a wood strip. The two panes of glass are to help keep sound out.

The window width is 14" one side of a vertical beam and 14" the other side.

I will have to cut the middle beam to get the clear window width.

My questions are..

1. If I cut this beam what should I do to make sure it is secure.

2. How can I frame the window si it holds ther glass.

Is there anything else I should know/do.

Thanks

Rock

This can be a difficult or easy job... all depends on your DIY skills.... and one other factor.. Is it a load bearing wall? The method will (or at least, should) vary depending on this factor...
