Fiberglass Windows

What's the expert opinion on fiberglass windows. Is it really the next best product to take over the market. Is there any feedback coming in on these windows that have been installed several years back? Is it worth the extra cost compared to vinyl?

Thanks.

They are excellent windows. Whether they are worth the extra $$ (compared to vinyl) is your call. The energy savings with either is about identical, as long as you compare the NFRC ratings. The noise reduction is about identical. Maintenance with either is essentially zero. That leaves 'appearance'.

Smile Fiberglass Windows-Great!

We recently had the Marvin Infinity fiberglass windows installed & I love them! We have an older home which had the 6 over 6 windows w/weights, and I wanted a window that would closely resemble the old wooden ones, but without all the maintenance. We looked at vinyl windows, but when we saw the fiberglass, that was it. I researched the web for window information and noted that Marvin not only received good reviews, but also stood by their products, even during a period when their product had problems.

We had an excellent installer, and the windows operate flawlessly. They're easy to wash and the noise level from traffic on our busy street is now barely noticeable. And what I love best is that I'll NEVER have to paint a window again!

I have no doubt that fiberglass will become the middle ground for those who want a good looking replacement window that doesn't look like a replacement.

Infinity vs. Integrity

Thanks for the feedback. I wonder if anyone can tell me the difference between Infinity and Integrity, both made by Marvin. Infinity is billed as "Replacement Windows". Is the Integrity line targeted at new installation?

Yes. We looked at the Infinity replacement windows today. Impressive compared to vinyl. Cost wasn't bad either. May have to take the plunge.
