Unhappy Broken lock/handle on my UPVC front door

Hi,
I have a upvc double glazed front door which I cant open from the inside.
I can unlock it from inside and out but inside the handle just goes round and round and wont bring the catch down to lock it.
Is there anyone who can help me as I cant afford to get anyone out to see it.
We had the same problem a little while ago when both handles inside and out wouldn't work but someone came and fixed it but he is no longer around so I think it can be fixed(I hope)
Thanks for any help.

Not sure what brand of lockset/handle you have, but it almost sounds to me like you have an allen screw (a type of set screw / hexagon shaped) that has come loose. Look on the handle for a hexagon shaped screw, get the right sized allen wrench, and take the thing apart, examine it, and you should be able to see what the problem is. There may be a long square rod that is not centered, or the set screw may not be catching on it for some unknown reason. It sounds like the set screw has simply come loose from the interior handle, allowing it to spin freely.
