Question Are there repair Kits 4 Vinyl Windows???

We replaced our old windows (aluminum & glass) with vinyl Low E windows... Had them "professionally" installed (the installation company is now out of business) - and the window company is telling us that the cracked frame is not covered under warranty (20 year warranty) as it was damaged (by what they see in the pics) on installation.

So - we now have a cracked vinyl window frame - and the company is telling us to hire a repairman who specializes in vinyl window frames, to fix this.

Before going that route - I'd like to know if there are any DIY kits out there to do it ourselves...or suggestions? Otherwise, we live in a pretty small town - and even the closest towns to us, I doubt will have the necessary repair person....

Thanks.

Tammy (frustrated on Vancouver Island!)

(Frustrated because this company doesn't seem to warranty glass or vinyl! - even tho it has a 20 year warranty - anything that has come up has been a hassle to get repaired - for instance, a heat fracture - they didn't want to replace the window because they said they don't cover fractured/broken glass! It took alot of e'mails, phone calls and basic tenacity to get the 2 windows replaced - that were deamed heat fractures by a professional!)

(Sorry for the repost - but when I edited - I changed the title, but the title didn't change on the forum).

Depending on the extent of the damage, you may be able to use an instant glue to rejoin the crack. Use a hair dryer to soften and streighten the vinyl if it is warped. Then sand it smooth and paint with exterior spray gloss of the approriate color (be sure to mask the area!)
Good Luck!
